Puppy update

 Well, while I'm still ticked I missed meeting Salty's litter in person, I am glad I can look online and see them. At nine days old, they'll be opening their eyes soon, which is awesome. Moose, ever the protective dad, keeps camping out on top of the den, which is neat of him. Since I'm still waiting on them to finish the enclosures for the Honshu pair and the Hokkaido pair, there's not a lot for me to do at work right now. Aside from getting them used to me, that is. Still working on names for the four, we're debating posing a contest online so people can suggest names for them. I think that would be cool, but I'm also still trying to talk the zoo into installing cameras in the exhibits for people to follow online. It would get more of the public involved and interested in the four of them.

Wolves, wow! Those red wolves are beautiful! And Honshu and Hokkaido...I thought there weren't any of those left?

Yeah, the reds are really pretty. So few are in the wild, too, it's sad.

Yeah, that's what everyone thought! It was pretty groundbreaking to find populations for both, considering the last known Hokkaido died in 1889, and the last known Honshu died in 1905. I'm stoked to get to work with them. The Honshus are so tiny, too!

Neither did I, but it's so awesome. I miss all the ones in New York, of course, but I'm getting really attached to my new four.

I...did. It's been a long 12 years for me, Shishido-san.

Me? Well, mostly recovering. It's only been about 2 years since I got out of my coma.

Well, I suppose it's time for you to learn your way to my new place, then. You have a niece to meet, you know. I've told Arashi all about you.

I'm really glad you're recovering instead of, you know, dead. We should hang sometime.

Nah, the relationship fell apart because of the pregnancy. I had to fight to keep her from ending it.

Hopefully! If I can't get a sitter and I can't bring Arashi with me, I may have to skip it, though I'd hate to do that.

Might have to wait for a pup on that. I think admin wants either Shinto deities or pop culture names. But it is a good name to keep in mind! ^_^

How is it being back in Tokyo? I wasn't quite as far as New York, but it still feels shocking sometimes.

It is going on the puppy name list for the litters we're hoping to see next spring.

It's so damn busy. South Salem is a tiny little village in comparison, and I kinda of miss the quiet. But at least I was able to get a place with decent insulation to keep out the sounds of the people around us.

I've taken to long drives outside of the city to escape. You ought to come along one of these days.

Well, that might work until they got bigger. Six full grown wolves would be too much for your space, I'm sure.

Oh I'm sure it would. It's a shame they can't stay tiny pups forever.

It kind of is, but they can still be a handful. I remember when Nikai was this little, just over a year ago. He's the youngest ambassador at the WCC.

And yet... no matter how much of a handful they are we still love them.

Yes we do. I can't wait to have puppies to fawn over at Ueno. Sucks I have to wait a year.
